Rather than wait for a special occasion, we should use every chance to learn about each other — even in 1-1s, it can be as simple as a quick card game with questions

Hey everyone, me again. Here’s a simple tool for meetings I’m playing with. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

“Curiosity” is a deck of cards designed to rediscover humanity (in other words, to get to know each other better, bit by bit). The idea isn’t mine, but it has aged well. The execution, however, is tailored to suit my needs — specifically for 1-1s with a team, either online or in person.

Here’s how it works: Two random questions are presented, with the roles also being randomly assigned (you-me, me-you). Click on the left card to reveal the question. Answer it. Then click on the other card. Answer that. Afterward, move on to the business topics.

The questions are simple and non-intrusive but provide an opportunity to open up, allowing everyone to share as much as they’re comfortable with.

Check it out now.
